Julie Blumenthal moved to Berlin in 2007 from New York City, where she trained in and taught yoga since 2003. A senior teacher of the ISHTA lineage and an “experienced registered teacher” (ERYT 500) with Yoga Alliance, she blends asana and breath work, meditation and principles of Ayurveda and Tantric philosophy through her teaching to offer a well-balanced class for all levels.

Her primary training is in ISHTA Yoga, where she was the assistant to founder Yogiraj Alan Finger and a co-creator and director of the ISHTA Teacher Training from 2005 to 2008. Other favorite teachers and influences include Max Strom, Shiva Rea, Glenn Black and Kofi Busia, the restorative and bodywork principles of Restorative and Thai Yoga, and Kirtan and Bhajan masters like Jai Uttal and Wah!

About my classes: I see the tools of yoga, from meditation to alignment and philosophy to vinyasa, as opportunities to remove stress, worries, and blocks in the mind and body, and reconnect with our own truth and joy in living, breathing and playing. You are invited to challenge yourself in the spirit of bhakti (devotion to your higher purpose, freeing your true self) with humor and playfulness, and to balance effort with surrender, mind with spirit, body with heart.  ISHTA (an acronym for the Integrated Science of Hatha, Tantra and Ayurveda) practice combines breath, vinyasa and asana with physical and energetic alignment principles. Accessible philosophy, breath work and simple meditation encourage every student to explore more deeply with acceptance, curiosity and joy.

I’m continually amazed by the depth and beauty of yoga, and the joy and light it can bring to our lives. I’m thrilled to share this with my fellow explorers however I can! For more information: www.julieblumenthal.com.
